Position Summary:
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and implement a comprehensive automated testing capability across our application stack. The primary objective is to move regression testing from a manual, development-intensive process to a scalable engineering capability that provides rapid feedback on every release. The engineer will be responsible for establishing an automated UI regression framework covering our Angular and React applications, with a target of achieving at least 90% regression coverage of defined critical application functionality. The framework should integrate directly into our CI/CD process, provide clear and actionable failure reporting, and support reliable execution across development and release environments.

Responsibilities:
A critical requirement is that the solution cannot simply automate today’s test cases—it must dramatically reduce the effort required to create and maintain tests in the future. The engineer will establish reusable test components, fixtures, page/component abstractions, test-data patterns, and supporting tooling that allow engineers and quality resources to add new regression scenarios without substantial custom development. The goal is to make automated testing part of the normal software development lifecycle: new functionality should arrive with automated coverage, existing functionality should be continuously validated, and regressions should be identified before reaching production.

The scope also includes building the equivalent automated testing capability for our Python-based backend services and APIs. This includes establishing a standardized backend test harness for API, integration, contract, and regression testing; automating test-data setup and teardown; mocking or isolating external dependencies where appropriate; and integrating execution into CI/CD pipelines. As with the UI framework, the backend harness should emphasize extensibility and ease of use so teams can rapidly add new tests as services and functionality evolve. Together, the frontend and backend capabilities should provide a consistent testing architecture that can measure coverage, identify failures quickly, and materially reduce the manual effort associated with release validation.

Technical Skills & Experience:
The ideal engineer is a senior-level software engineer with strong experience building test automation platforms, rather than someone whose experience is limited to writing individual automated test scripts. We are looking for deep proficiency in Python and modern web application testing across Angular and React, with hands-on experience with technologies such as Playwright or Cypress for browser automation and pytest and related Python testing frameworks for backend automation. Experience designing API and integration test harnesses, managing deterministic test data, mocking dependencies, validating asynchronous workflows, and testing distributed service architectures is important.

The engineer should also have strong experience integrating automated testing into modern CI/CD pipelines, including parallel test execution, test isolation, failure diagnostics, reporting, coverage measurement, and quality gates. Particular value will be placed on experience designing reusable testing frameworks that can be adopted by a broader engineering organization—not just operated by the person who created them. Success in this role means leaving behind a testing platform where developers can create meaningful new UI and backend coverage quickly, regression suites execute automatically as part of delivery, failures are easy to diagnose, and the organization can sustainably maintain 90%+ coverage of critical regression scenarios as the product evolves.
